Very happy and surprised Prius Owners
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Prius 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
Review
We purchased our Prius primarily because of its excellent gas mileage and its being an environmentally friendly vehicle plus Toyota's reputation for outstanding engineering, trading in our Acura 2.5. The Prius was met all of our expectations and has also been a great car for longish road trips on interstates and back roads-a very pleasant surprise we had not expected. It's also been a lot of fun to drive. We'd certainly buy it again.
Favorite Features
A superbly engineered and designed car that has been fun to drive while getting excellent mileage and doing our bit for the environment. REALLY solid!!
Suggested Improvements
As senior citizens we'd appreciate a little more interior luxery-a possible holdover from our Acura days. Seat covering and interior surfaces seem too prone to showing wear/stains/marks.

5000 mile review
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Prius 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
Review
Comfortable drive, however small steering wheel is cause for sensitive steering. Loss of trunk space I had in previous Saturn cars.
Favorite Features
Fuel economy. Interstate highway using cruise control 51 to 56 miles per gallon. Local/city ratings are false, I get about 48 miles per gallon.
Suggested Improvements
Rear window view is difficult to get used to. Softer seat cushions.

12,000 Mile Update
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Prius 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
Review
Bought 01/06, car holding up well, AVG MPG now running @ 45 MPG 50/50 mix highway/backroad. I've noted that the MPG computer reading overstates the actual MPG by about 2-3%. Run Tire pressure at 36 PSI. Car is still very tight, no squeeks, rattles, tracks well. Running Mobile 1 Full Syn oil. Looking forward to 2008 model with plug in feature and Turbo. Very happy with this auto.
Favorite Features
Safety features w/ Pkg 5, fuel econ.
Suggested Improvements
All models should have daytime running lights, using lights during day for safety drops visability of internal screens significantly. Extend length by 6 inches, and add to trunk area, needed for suitcases if 4 people go on a 1 week vacation. Improve mirrors / reduce blind spots - many 4 HW driving

A Great Transportation Appliance
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Prius 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
Review
Purchased in June, the car now has more than 10,000 miles while averaging 48 MPG with 95% freeway driving. It is clear that Toyota spent most of their money on the technology platform and it all functions pretty seemlessly. This car offers great economy with few compromises. Wonderfully reliable, the car has yet to be back to the dealer. After the previous seven years driving a Volvo S80 T6 that couldn't stay out of a dealership for two consecutive weeks, reliability is a real treat.
Favorite Features
Reliability and fuel economy. The knowledge that I'm killing the planet more slowly. The ability to drive in the carpool lane in CA. Tax credit (thank you fellow taxpayers). Interior space is very good for it's size. My single favorite feature has to be the CVT that functions beautifully.
Suggested Improvements
Driving dynamics are disconnected and vague. Straight line tracking and resistance to cross-winds is poor. Seat comfort is fair and in need of adjustability. All in all it is a pretty spartan car for the money. It's difficult to justify buying this car on the basis of economics alone.

A joy to own, a joy to drive
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Prius 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
Review
It was a difficult decision to give up my beloved Lexus, but after watching Al Gore's movie, we decided to put our money where our beliefs are.... We tested the available hybrids and chose the Prius for environmentally positive reasons, but were also seduced by the advanced technology, design, and other features. Although we haven't had it very long, we're completely happy with it; it was easy to start driving although we still have things to learn about the dps system and other advanced features. We went for the top of the line since we liked the add-ons, but friends are happy with the basic, as well.

Mission Accomplished !!!

2006 Toyota Prius 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
Review
Our '06 Prius (Package #3) delivers as advertised. We've put nearly 3K miles in the first month since we drive the Prius all the time while leaving our other cars at home. As a result, we're saving on fuel costs and polluting less while averaging about 47 mpg (plus not having to go to the gas station as often is also very nice). This car is sure easy to live with and tackles daily commuting better than any other vehicle we've owned. It's easy to drive, comfortable, has enough power to merge onto freeways or pass slower vehicles, very quiet at speed, roomy and has a very flexible cargo area (unlike the new Civic hybrid where rr seats don't fold).
Favorite Features
Environment friendly, awesome fuel savings, easy to drive, flexible cargo area, advanced hybrid technology.
Suggested Improvements
Handling designed for comfortable ride, not spirited driving. Wish it was a better mix of both. Front seats could have been designed with more adjustability and support; tiny looking wheels/tires not proportional to the rest of vehicle. These are minor complaints. Overall, the Prius is wonderful!!
Fun Passing Gas Stations

Review
We are only filling up at the pump half as often as we did before we owned our Prius. It's peppy, no problem pulling out in to traffic. Love the fold down seats in back for easy transport of larger items. The sporty style is alittle too close to the ground for longer legs. Always lots of compliments.

Best car I ever owned
Vehicle
2006 Toyota Prius 4dr Hatchback (1.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)
Review
My Prius is well designed, inside and outside. Pretty yet powerful. Comfortable in every way. The back-up camera and keyless operation are a hoot, and always impressive when showing off. But the best part is the fuel efficiency. So far, I'm averaging over 47 mpg, and I pass the gas station with a smile these days. Buying a Prius is one of the best decision I ever made!
Favorite Features
Too many to count: fuel efficiency, dash logistics, back-up camera, keyless operation, trunk features, various storage compartments -I could go on and on.
Suggested Improvements
Nothing that comes to mind, other than possibly to make standard one of those wide angle rear view mirrors to better see out the back. This is especially important with the back designed the way it is.
the best kept secrect in auto industry

Review
I have had this car about 4,000 miles and I am still amazed by it. After buying it, my wife made me sell her LS430 Lexus since she quit driving it completely. I really feel less tired after a long trip than I did in my Lexus. Many people have stopped me in parking lots and asked about it, and I have never met a person that has one that did not love it. If more people drove hybirds, we would be exporting oil not to mention what it would do to the environment. Believe it or not, this is about the 10th year that this car has been----and it is really perfected.
Favorite Features
The way it handles; the way it rides;great gas mileage (although no where near what the window sticker says) but still a resspectible 45 mpg overall; unbelievable get up and go for such a small engine.
Suggested Improvements
could use better material on seats and bigger tires
