Re: MPG [zheton]

I have 3,456 miles on my car since June 4, 2008. 3 round trips to NJ (75 miles each way) and the rest all city driving. I notice depending on where I get the gas is how good my mileage is. With 2 people at all times I don't get less than 24 miles per gallon around town. I notice my car does not like Sunoco Gas or Citgo. And depending on which Mobil I can get bad mileage. I usually put in Gulf which has 10% ethanol in it. They are the only ones I have found to actually have signs on the pumps that there is 10% etanol in the gas. Since I live 2 miles from NJ I go over the state line to buy gas and today since Premium was only $1.79 I splurged and put in the Premium. I said...what the heck. After paying almost $4 a gallon I decided to treat my engine. And I read that the actual mileage testing done by Hyundai was on high test. I will know my next fill up the difference between regular and premium. But I NEVER get below 24 miles per gal. around the town. And I get even better on the highway with 2 people in the car. I know my tank holds 14 gallons and my gas light comes on when I have 2 gallons left. :shades:
Jerky acceleration
by waipahu on Mon Dec 01 22:45:07 PST 2008
After starting a cold engine, my 99 S80 hesitates when I give it gas for maybe the first 30 - 40 yards and then it runs fine. If I pump the gas pedal a few times before I put it in drive that works too. I checked the plugs and they are fine. It only happens when the engine is cold. any ideas?
97 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2L Stalling and Rough Running
by seamusz on Mon Dec 01 20:38:31 PST 2008
About a month ago, I ran out of gas on my way to work. Ever since then, when my tank is below 3/4-1/2 full, I have sporadic rough running and even stalling. It is usually the worst when I first start up. If the car actually stalls and quits, I have to let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes and then it will usually run fine for 10 to 20 minutes. If I keep the tank above 3/4 a tank full, I have no problems. The engine light has come on a couple of times and the error reads "running lean". I have tried some of the suggestions for similar problems posted. I cleaned the throttle plate, I have replaced the fuel filter and checked the tank for gunk or clogged screen. As far as I can tell, everything has looked fine. I haven't had the pump itself checked and am trying to hold off going into the shop. Any suggestions?

actually does better per mile than some ford pickups and explorers. and as for off road it is a silly guestion. i don't care what someone's boat cost to run on the water. if you have an atv enjoy yourself. 16 t0 18 mpg is more than acceptable to me. what with all gas everybody else is saving under obama's plan there is plenty for me. :D
Son will keep the ECHO
by babyboomer on Mon Dec 01 18:35:37 PST 2008
Drove the 2001 ECHO from Nashville, TN to Indianapolis, IN. for Thanksgiving. The car did great! The only problem I had was trying to tolerate my son's music. Years ago I swapped the ECHO for his 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee because he commutes many miles each day. I told him I would swap back any time. He said it was the best deal he ever made so will keep the ECHO. I agreed.
If the Prius
by boaz47 on Mon Dec 01 18:24:09 PST 2008
was developed because of high gas prices it might have a dog in this fight. But it wasn't, it was the bone Toyota tossed at the American public to get their minds off of a zero emissions vehicle. At least that is what they were in California. Until the Prius CARB mandated a zero emissions vehicle by 2000 and right after the Prius came out the concept was trashed. Hybrids may have a place but there is no law they have to be ugly nor that they are the solution to our fuel useage. If, and there is always a if, there is a limited amount of oil to be drilled for then all cars like the Prius do is slow down that useage and with more drivers getting cars every year that slowing down isn't going to do much. They do not solve the problem and they are not zero emissions. However back to the subject today gas was $1.88 for regular in Riverside, Ca. You would be very hard pressed to get the additional money a hybrid costs over their non hybrid counterparts. So unless I could get Insight fuel mileage why jump on any bandwagon? Hybrids need to optimism fuel mileage and if and when they do then it will not matter what fuel cost they will sell. When they get 15 to 20 percent better fuel mileage than their counter parts and in return cost 15 to 20 percent more they will not sell.
