This was the first year model, however, this was way too much. If you look under MSN reliability ratings 92 through 95 were dogs. That's interesting, because I'd always heard that the 1992-96 was the pinnacle of quality for the Camry. That it was almost TOO good for the price, so they've been de-contenting them ever since to keep them out of Lexus territory. Although what's probably really happened was simply that increased competition caused them to cheapen the Camry. One of the managers here at work had a Camry V-6 of that generation, and I think he got it up to around 200,000 miles. It had a lot of problems by that time though, and IIRC, he ended up giving it to his mechanic. Still, I'm not trying to refute your experience in any way. Sometimes even the highest rated cars go bad. I have some friends, a married couple, who asked me for advice on a new small car back in 1994. Even though I have a preference for Chrysler and GM, even I had trouble recommending their small-car offerings. So I recommended a Civic. One of my friends was miffed, because he wanted to push them into something like a Plymouth Sundance or Dodge Shadow! Well wouldn't you know it, that '94 Civic turned out to be one gigantic turd! It blew a head gasket, and then had a/c problems. Around 80,000 miles, head gasket #2 blew, and they decided to dump it I swear that car turned out to be a lemon simply because I recommended it. And of course, my Sundance loving friend was just loving this. :P They replaced the Civic with a 1998 or so Saturn S-series...I guess it's not that often that a Honda sends someone running and screaming back to General Motors!

Thanks for the info, Jim. I avoided the Ford dealer since my warranty was up. I will report this to the NHTSA website as you suggested. Dave Hagerman Bear, DE

Got Civic Si w/nav/summer tires for $500 under invoice!
by waynetam on Mon Dec 01 21:11:25 PST 2008
So I got the exact car I wanted (Civic Si sedan w/nav/summer tires) at a great price from DE at Honda of Hollywood internet department. At first I was skeptical about the overstock.com quoted price of $500 under invoice at Honda Hollywood but I decided to give it a try. Well turned out DE is a true no BS guy and what you quoted was what you pay! (well my car has wheel locks and mud guards which I paid additional $250 over the overstock.com price which was fine with me, but my guess is you might be able to get that reduced.....I didn't bother because I felt $500 under invoice was already such a great deal with no huggle). Anyway once my overstock.com quote was sent to DE and I confirmed with him the next morning he has the exact car I drove there in the afternoon today and he already had the car parked in the front all washed and clean. It had only 8 miles on it and I took it for a short spin to make sure it drives alright then we were back to the dealer to finish the paperwork which was straight forward. However watch out for the finance guy as he was trying to sneak in a $165 fee for some kind of security system which was not part of the deal (had nothing to do with DE, it's just like every other dealers that those finance guys would always try to get you to buy those LoJack, extra warranty etc and I declined all of them). So anyway if you're in Southern California you owe it to yourself to call this guy DE at Honda Hollywood (I would definitely recommend using overstock.com to get the price first as it automatically forward your request to him and you get a printout of your quote no BS price). I'm so glad the previous poster mentioned overstock.com's car buying service otherwise I wouldn't had discover Honda Hollywood (they are 40 minutes away from where I live and I wasn't even considering them at first). Well I've tried most of the other Honda dealers (and their so called internet departments) and none of them can compete DE at Honda Hollywood for straight price and no BS great service.

That sure looks like it. I will have to go out and smell it tomorrow. The flowers lay flat on the ground. Those others in my picture have not opened up yet. They look like little hats. That is one of about 30 different cactus that was planted here when we bought the place. It must like where it is planted as it is loaded with flowers. It is covering a fairly large spot of the cactus garden. Another link: http://www.cpukforum.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t6704.html
