Re: Popular color for Porsche Carrera [asi12]
There is a lot of speculation about color and resale value. I have a 2005 911S Cab in Seal Grey that I bought off the lot in Spetember, 2005 at a great deal ($10k off). My preference at that time would have been Speed Yellow and, in fact, the next spring I ordered a 2006 through the dealer that I then decided not to take when a deal to sell my 2005 fell through. The dealer ... Read More...
Re: Porsche carrera cabriolet 1999 model newcomer [habitat1]
I purchased a 2005 911 one year ago. I blew through my Continentals with 12,000 miles. I am in the process of researching tires, and believe I will go with the Michelins. The dealer wants to charge $500 more than Tire Rack for the tires, plus $400 to install. Is the install worth it? Read More...
Re: Bluetooth [diro1]
Regarding your questions #1 & #6, my 2006 911 is GT silver with black interior. I saw a silver with tan interior when I bought mine a couple of months ago. The're out there, but black on black has been very popular for awhile. I don't know why. I believe PSM is standard on all 911's. Don't know if it was available on pre 997's. PASM is an option on the base 911 and standard ... Read More...
Re: 911 Questions - new v. used - help me please! [larryallen707]
I have been contemplating the purchase of a 911 my whole life.... I assume you have never driven a 911, otherwise you would have bought one by now. I would throw in another $20,000 and get a type 997, 2005 to present, I believe. Why not get the latest technology and most comfortable ride, not to mention a faster car. I have never driven a pre 997, but everyone says the ... Read More...
Re: 911 Engines and Advice for 1st time buyer [porsche4me2]
I'm looking at 2004-2006 Porsche 911 Cabs and my mechanic warned me that there have been several issues with the water cooled engines in the 996s (1999-2003). First, you should be aware that 2004 was the last year of the 996 design, not 2003. Supposedly, Porsche revised the rear main seal / crankcase design for the 997 model (2005+) but there have still been a few ... Read More...
Porsche 911 Engines
I'm looking at 2003-2005 Porsche 911 Cabs and my mechanic warned me that there have been several issues with the water cooled engines in the 996s (1999-2003). Has anyone else heard of those issues? Have they been addressed in the 2004 (and newer) models? He thinks the the '95-98's have excellent engines but ideally I'd like the newer body style. This is my first ... Read More...

Re: Article Comments - 2008 Porsche 911 GT2 [07997turbo]
that is why I would replace everything I could with carbon fiber panels as I indicated in my first post. Sort of like ordering a diet coke to go along with your Double Whopper and fries? I don't know how much weight can be saved by the use of carbon fiber. But, speaking for myself, I'd rather have the lighter, more drivetrain efficient RWD to start with, than try to lighten ... Re: Porsche 911 Turbo Triptronic is an Auto Box. [sandeep5]
Could you tell me where I could get a 911T (6-sp with few options) for $3k over invoice? You need to shop around and check out dealer inventories using Porsche's website. They make it pretty easy to check out inventories at every dealer within 100-200-300 miles of a specific zip code. When I bought my 997 911C2S Cab, it was a "hot" car, having only been out for about ... Read More...
Re: Porsche 911 Turbo Triptronic is an Auto Box. [rlk691]
I don't think many people with the coin to drop on a 911 turbo have curbed their spending that much on the basis of the current financial markets. Think again. When the 997 Turbo first came out, there was a pent up demand and 6+ month wait. My dealer that gave me a $10k discount on a new 911 C2S Cab in September 2005 told me that $2,000 off was the very best he could do for ... Read More...
Re: New or Used Porsche??? Lease or Own? Tips for Buying? [madmanmoo]
but IIRC the original MSRP was 111k. If that's the case, they need to open a new asylum in Atlanta. $30,000 worth of options on a base C2 Cab wouldn't just be crazy, I think it's damn near impossible. The highest price I saw for a C2S cab when I was shopping was $109k and that was with a custom to order color and full custom color leather interior. Anything over the basic ... Read More...
