The 2008 British Auto Show looks as though it will continue the momentum generated by its move to London in 2006. Up to that point, the sparsely attended show featured few significant unveils, as it was trying to compete with the fall shows in Paris and Frankfurt. Now firmly scheduled in July every other year, the London auto show, as it's often called now, is gearing up for some notable world premieres.

Most interesting among them is the debut of the Lotus Project Eagle, a new 2+2 sports car. Powered by a 276-horsepower V6, it's the first new vehicle from Lotus since the debut of the Elise more than a decade ago. Another world premiere will come in the form of the Honda OSM concept. It was designed to explore what an ultralow-emissions, two-passenger sports car might look like. Honda says there are no plans for production, but with the right public response it could become a logical addition to Honda's already fuel-efficient lineup.

Other unveils scheduled for London include the 2009 Bentley Continental Flying Spur Speed, the Vauxhall Insignia, Seat Ibiza Sportcoupe and the IFR Aspid which is sort of a modern-day take on the Caterham. Look for coverage of these debuts and more starting July 22.
