Re: Hyundai Accent: Real World MPG [backy]
The point of reference was Hyundai reporting 32 CTY & 36 HWY which now a year later has been changed to 28 CTY & 37 HWY.it's not that I ever expected to get 100% of the published estimates but 50 % below the published estimates for CTY millage from September 2006 is ridiculous. As I had stated on real HWY millage while I should complain I won't for being in the 80% range ... Read More...
Re: Low MPG
Our 2007 Hyundai Accent gets 40 percent worse mileage than it's supposed to. Since purchasing the car in December 2006, we've averaged 16.5 mpg in the city, instead of the rated 28 mpg. I know that mileage ratings are never as promised on the sticker, but our fuel efficiency seems excessively low -- and it's consistently low. Our Accent has 2,600 miles on it -- almost ... Re: the real story with mileage [roxy11]
the problem with the accent numbers is the tiny sample size. Yet you had no problem in your earlier post making generalizations about Yaris vs. Accent fuel economy using this small sample size. :confuse: So if it's OK for you to do that, I guess it's OK for me to do that. Anyway, I'm not just generalizing based on the small sample size on fueleconomy.gov. I am also ... Read More...
Re: the real story with mileage [backy]
the problem with the accent numbers is the tiny sample size. there is less evidence that as they break in the mileage goes up, rather as the sample size increases (example only 4 cars for 2006 accent and 30.6 mpg, whereas 7 cars for 07 accent and 26.6 mpg) the true numbers start to show. the 33.8 on the 07 manual accent is based on 2 drivers, just not credible enough at ... Re: the real story with mileage [roxy11]
A couple of things about the fueleconomy.gov numbers: * There are only 7 ratings for the 2007 Accent AT and 3 for the MT. Not very large samples, compared to the samples for the 2007 Yaris. The samples for the 2006 Accent (the same car as the 2007 but in sedan form only) are even lower. * Note that the mpg's for the 2006 Accents are significantly higher than for the 2007s. ... Accent vs Yaris - my impressions
I was really leaning toward the 07 Accent SE, from reading this review on the automobilemag.com; http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/hatchbacks/0609_2006_hyundai_accent_se/ I test drove a MT Accent SE, was impressed. Since the Toyota dealer was just down the street, I test drove a MT Yaris hatch as well. Here is what I came away with; Styling The Accent ... Read More...

Re: smallet Hyundai? [hatchbackfreak]
Hyundai's CVVT Alpha II engine used in the 2006+ Accent is also used in the 2006+ Rio, which shares the same platform as the Accent. So it's a Hyundai engine, but used by Kia also. Read More...
Re: smallet Hyundai? [hatchbackfreak]
The Alpha engine was designed in Korea and it's built by Hyundai in Ulsan; it's not a Mitsubishi engine. The 2006 and later Accent has the "CVVT Alpha II" version. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyundai_Alpha_engine Read More...
Re: Check Engine Light [islandlady1975]
Go immediately to your dealership and insist that they run a computer diagnostic on your Accent. Then pray very hard that the following codes do NOT come up - P0300,P0303,P304,P0302 - these codes mean that there is a misfire in cylinders 3,4&2. If this is the case return your vehicle if you are able, if not immediately call Consumer Protection because you have ... Read More...

Re: insurance shock!!! [joe97]
And, just to clear up, Hyundai's resale values are not the worst, far from it, the company has actually made dramatic improvements. I think you meant that Hyundai's resale values are the worst. Edmunds 2006 Worst resale values: 1. Rio 2. Accent 3. Spectra 5. Elantra 7. Optima Where is the improvement? http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/list/top10/115613/article.html ... Read More...
