2006 Ford Focus ZXW SES 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

Although the design is now several years old (2005 "freshening" was insignificant), it's functional and offers a fun driving experience. Great for tall folks (I'm 6'2") and super in the Ottawa winter, thanks to traction control and heated seats.

Favorite Features

Handling, brakes and performance.

Suggested Improvements

Rear seat cushion flips, but in one piece only -- a stupid design choice that seriously limits the utility of the 64/40 folding seat backs.

2006 Ford Focus ZX4 SES 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

Just picked up my '06 SES w/auto. The car is just a blast to drive - way more so than the price may indicate. The build quality looks better than average, and the stock radio is just fine. The rebates make this too good of a deal to pass up.

Favorite Features

Great handling! The ride is solid but not bumpy. Feels like a very well build car.

Suggested Improvements

More power, better gas mileage. Would be nice to have some metal accent pieces in the interior to dress it up.

2006 Ford Focus ZX4 SES 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

We bought the Focus after driving the Escape, RAV4, Corolla, and Civic. We bought the car in DC and live in St. Louis; on the trip back we got almost 34 mpg. Since then we have put almost 1000 miles city and highway at almost 31 mpg. Great to drive on the highway, super quiet. Sound system is quiet, opted for the 6 disk package. We got a SES with the safety package for the same price as a SE w/ safety package, convenience group, and the sport group. Out the door price $14,088. Easy on the wallet for gas, insurance and payments, plus a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty and you have 36,000 bumper to bumper. Great deal, fun to drive.

Favorite Features

Fun to drive, great gas mileage.

Suggested Improvements

A second power point would be nice, better sound system standard.

2006 Ford Focus ZXW SES 4dr Wagon (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

First Impressions - The first time I drove the Ford Focus Wagon was in 2003 as a rental. I was really amazed how fun it was to drive and so eventually we needed to buy a second car and it had to be capable of long trips that allowed our new dog to come along for the drive. Second Impressions - Our new 2006 Ford Focus Wagon ZXW SES is even better now that when I first drove the Focus. Not only is it extremely fun to drive, but it's fully loaded with options that some car makers don't even offer. The engine is peppy yet fuel efficient, the drive feels sporty and the visibility is perfect. Plus we can drive in comfort with leather heated seats and our dog has his own room with a view.

Favorite Features

Exterior finish, Interior Finish, Leather Heated Seats, Moon Roof, visibility, Peppy Engine, Manual Transmission, Heated Mirrors, Stereo controls on Steering wheel, ABS + Traction Control, Comfortable Drive, High Driving Position.

Suggested Improvements

The trunk on the wagon is a bit tricky to operate. While it is quite light, it doesn't close fully without giving it an incredible slam. Otherwise it latches but doesn't close completely and you have to use the key fob to release it and try again, which is a bit startling for our dog in the back.

I just got my car yesterday & I love it! It's very comfortable to drive & I got all the features I wanted at an affordable price. I love my moonroof, heated seats & mirrors along with my ABS & side impact airbags. It really is a fun car to drive. I wish I had more places to go so I could be in it all the time! :)

Favorite Features

The moonroof. it's nice that it can be opened all the way & out of sight or just tilted up & only open a crack.

Suggested Improvements

None ~ I love everything about my Focus!

2006 Ford Focus ZX5 SE 4dr Hatchback (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

I have had a lot of fun driving this car. The handling and ride of this car rival my wife's Honda Accord (no kidding). I test drove the new Honda Civic, new Toyota Corolla, and a new Suzuki Forenza. The Focus had the most headroom, the most comfortable seats, and the best road manners. The interior is well laid out with all of the controls within easy reach. On the highway the engine noise is quieter than expected. The engine doesn't sound too hurried even at speeds around 70 mph. The car tracks straight and is very responsive to steering input with the short wheelbase. Braking feels solid, even with drum brakes in the rear. I am getting just over 27 mpg with mixed city/highway driving.

Favorite Features

Great handling and ride for an entry level car, adequate headroom for taller people, good visibility all around, comfortable seats, smooth shifting transmission, instrumentation layout easy to read, good audio sound, road/wind noise not so bad at highway speeds, price, great headlights, foglamps.

Suggested Improvements

ABS and side airbags should be standard equipment, should have a heat shield on the inside of hood in engine compartment, wheel wells around the back tires are some kind of fiber material -- why not easy-to-clean plastic? Gas mileage could be a little better for a compact.

Steering and ride exceptional for a compact car. One of the most fun to drive cars in its class. Gas mileage about 33 mpg. Overall one of the best compacts available. Drive one and you will see what I mean.

Favorite Features

Very fun to drive and priced right. Overall quality good for price paid. I got mine for $11999.00.

Suggested Improvements

Could be a little more quiet. Include mud guards.

2006 Ford Focus ZX4 SES 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5M)

Review

The automatic transmission has perfect shift points and quick response from throttle input. The steering feels nimble with good road feel. The ride is firm, but not harsh. No squeaks, rattles or wind noise heard so far. Fit and finish are above average. The seats could use a little more support for lower thighs. The SES model seems to be well worth the extra cost over base models.

Favorite Features

The automatic transmission is nice. Great tires, handle well with good grip. The engine is smooth and responsive.

Suggested Improvements

Seat quality and also offer the 2.3 engine with automatic transmission in SES model would be nice.
